CAN A CASE BE MADE THAT WE WILL RECEIVE A BODY IN THE INTERMEDIATE HEAVEN?

We get a good idea of what our resurrection bodies will be like when we recall Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances. He still had visible wounds, and His disciples could physically touch Him, yet He was able to travel effortlessly and appear and disappear at will.

He could go through walls and doors yet could also eat and drink and sit and talk. Scripture informs us that our “lowly bodies” will be just “like His glorious body” (Philippians 3:21). Indeed, the physical limitations imposed by sin that hinder our ability to fully serve Him on earth will be forever gone, freeing us to praise and serve and glorify Him for eternity.

The question is, If we die before the Rapture, we know we will go to Heaven, but, will we be there in spirit form or will God give us a temporary body until the Rapture occurs?

There are some who say that we will have bodies in the present Heaven. They give us several examples.

The nail prints in Christ’s hands and feet are the strongest possible affirmation that the same body that was crucified is the same heavenly body that was raised. In Luke 24:39, Jesus said, “It is I myself! Touch me and see, a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

Enoch and Elijah were taken to Heaven. If God allowed them into the intermediate heaven they are living in pre-resurrected bodies. Then there is Moses and Elijah who appeared physically with Christ at the Transfiguration (Luke 9:28-36)

We saw in Jesus parable of the rich man and Lazarus, they both had bodies.
